The historic small town of Pambula (between Merimbula and Eden on the Sapphire Coast of New South Wales) is home to an excellent coffee roastery, Wild Rye’s.
The cute roastery/café serves up their own beans and I was impressed by the couple of takeaway oat lattes I had from there.
The house blend was an interesting South American mix from Colombia, Guatemala and El Salvador. The tasting notes were spot on – chocolate, toffee, apple, stone fruit, malt and orange.
Based on the excellent results I experienced from this so-called “Seasonal Blend”, I purchased a 1kg bag of beans (and they were very reasonably-priced for such good quality).
Wild Rye’s also operate a (very popular!) sourdough bakery from another premises in Pambula and the bread was lovely too.
I always enjoy supporting small local roasters and it was good to see their beans offered in cafes along the coast (such as Wild Orchid in Tathra).
If you’re passing through Pambula on your travels, it’s well worth stopping at Wild Rye’s. They have generous opening hours and the coffee is top notch.
