World Vegan Day (on 1st November) provided the perfect excuse to revisit Hunter Café and Store in Rye on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula.
We’d visited this vegan café a number of times before and always been very happy with the food and drinks. This was our first visit after a recent change of ownership. Thankfully, the vegan standard has been maintained – as has that of the coffee!
This small café on an unassuming strip well back from the beachfront madness of Rye was busy on a sunny Saturday. It’s always great to see a vegan place doing well and the local trade was a good sign. There’s a definite community vibe to Hunter.
My oat latte was a fine brew. They continue to utilise the good quality (and ethical) beans from the Peninsula’s own Commonfolk Coffee. The drink was so good, I ordered the same again to support this small vegan business on this special day for vegans.
Our meals were also really good – decent-sized serves, interesting flavours and very fresh.
Hunter is a great café serving a top coffee – and its solid vegan values are a bonus.
