It’s a dull Wednesday afternoon in wintry Geelong and the funky Little Malop Street precinct is understandably quiet.
Heading to the South America Coffee Co‘s brew bar, there are more signs of life. The window to the street is open but I’m warmly welcomed inside even though my dog, Lola, is with me.
The heady scent of coffee hits me as I enter. The super dark theme makes it feel like a secret den – and one made just for coffee lovers. Six different beans are offered on my first visit and the friendly owner offers me descriptions of each. I opt for the house blend for my oat latte.
A couple of tables and a bunch of stools out the front hint at enjoying the atmosphere of the precinct in busier times, but it’s still a good spot to enjoy my coffee and watch the steady stream of regulars popping into this one-year-old coffee shop.
My oat latte was very smooth and chocolately, the perfect temperature too on this chilly afternoon. As I finish it, I’m already thinking of my next opportunity to visit and sample one of the other beans on offer.
I loved the vibe of this little place – the décor is unique, the welcome friendly and the range of coffees impressive. Oh, and my oat latte was excellent too!
